Recognition partnership · for districts, cities and regions
Doctors who stay in your region.
Invest in the medical care of your region: through a recognition partnership.
- 24 months of contractual commitment to the employer in your region
- Funded by the German federal government and the State of Berlin
- Scientific support from Charité and Freie Universität Berlin
Backed by leading institutions
The starting point
Medical care is decided outside the cities.
Your situation
Practices find no successor, hospitals in the district leave posts unfilled. International doctors are here — they simply never arrive:
No shortage of applicants, a shortage of process Between arrival and the Approbation (the German medical licence) lie recognition of qualifications, the Fachsprachprüfung (the medical language exam) and the authorities. Most do not fail on ability, but on the route there.
Once licensed, they leave for the metropolitan areas Without a commitment to a local employer, the very doctor your hospital has just trained up is the one who leaves the region.
Our concept
We guide international doctors through recognition — financed half by you and half by the employer. Your share therefore works twice over:
You fund, we qualify Recognition, medical German, exams and settling in — accompanied by a dedicated case manager, drawing on the experience of more than 4,000 doctors supported.
The commitment is made locally The Qualifizierungsvereinbarung (qualification agreement) is signed between employer and doctor — 24 months from the first day of work. Your funding therefore goes into a post that stays filled.
How it works
You finance half. We deliver the result.
- 1
You make funds available
Set a quota, or the number of funded doctors, for your district.
- 2
The employer registers demand
A hospital, medical centre or practice brings in its own observers — or we introduce suitable doctors.
- 3
We qualify
Recognition, medical German, exams and settling into the region — through one dedicated contact person.
Stays in the region
Contractually secured — 24 months from the first day of work.
What your region gains
One funding decision, three effects.
Care that stays
Filled medical posts and practice successions where no one else steps in — with a commitment that reaches beyond the day the licence is granted.
Leverage, not a subsidy
Every euro from your budget brings a second one from the employer. For small hospitals and single-doctor practices, that is what makes qualification affordable at all.
Settling in through your structures
Housing, registration, childcare, work for the partner: we structure the information and point to your existing services — instead of building something new alongside them.
Your share
What the region carries — and what it does not.
Our offer
€3,750
your share per doctor — the second half of the €7,500 is carried by the local employer.
24 months
contractual commitment to the employer in the region, from the first day of work.
The grant goes to the employer, who commissions the qualification from us. For you it therefore remains funding and never becomes procurement.
The risk stays outside: If the doctor leaves early, she repays a proportionate share. If the route fails through no fault of her own, Get2Germany carries the cost.
This is our standard offer. We define the split, the commitment period and the scope together in the first call — including whether you start with a single doctor or make an annual quota available.
For regions that want to go further, we are currently developing a model that ties the commitment to the district rather than to a single employer — modelled on municipal rural-doctor scholarships. Talk to us if that is of interest.
Working together
What we need from you.
Little, but binding — and just as clearly, what is not part of the offer.
What we need
- A decision on the funds — and one designated contact person in your administration.
- Access to the employers in the district: hospitals, medical centres, practices. We are happy to make the approach ourselves.
- A pointer to your existing integration services, so that we refer to them instead of building alongside them.
- Brief feedback on which specialties are most urgently missing in your region.
What is not included
- No legal, insurance or financial advice — we provide structured information and refer to partners.
- No housing brokerage and no private concierge service.
- No commission-based recruitment — we introduce candidates, but we do not sell them.
- No guarantee of an Approbation: we are responsible for the support, not for the authority's decision.
We are a social enterprise
An award-winning social enterprise — with experience in the public sector.
Founded by a Berlin doctor and financed by impact investors — among them Sparda-Bank Berlin together with Ostwerk. We work with public institutions in several German regions, know the recognition procedures of every federal state and understand how public administration works.

Frequent questions
Answered briefly.
Who signs which contract with whom?
Three documents, cleanly separated: your funding commitment goes to the employer. The employer commissions the qualification from us. And between employer and doctor stands the Qualifizierungsvereinbarung (qualification agreement), which governs the 24 months — it is not part of the employment contract.
Is this a procurement procedure?
As we understand it, no — as long as your grant goes to the employer and the employer purchases the service, you are funding rather than procuring. The final assessment naturally rests with your legal or procurement office; we supply the documentation for it.
Can we start small?
Yes. The model works from a single doctor onwards — you do not need to launch a programme in order to test it.
Where do the doctors come from?
Usually from the institutions themselves: observers who have long been working alongside the team and who used to be lost once they were licensed. If an employer has no one, we introduce candidates from our community — more than 4,000 doctors supported, from over 80 countries.
What happens if the doctor leaves the region?
She repays a proportionate share of the qualification — governed by the agreement with the employer. If the route fails through no fault of her own, for example because of a decision by the authorities, we carry the cost. No one is left holding a failed investment.
When does the money flow?
You approve the amount once and pay it out when the employer calls the funds down, as a rule at the start of the programme. If a case runs across the turn of the year, we agree the split with you in advance so that no forward commitment authorisation is required.

No obligation — we clarify whether the model fits your region and what it means for your budget.
