Congratulations on passing the FSP – an important step has been taken!
Immediately afterwards, you are not yet allowed to work independently as a doctor in Germany, but you can already work clinically with a so-called Berufserlaubnis – under the supervision of an approbated doctor. This is usually granted for an initial period of 6 to 12 months and can be extended to a maximum of 2 years.
With the Berufserlaubnis, you can, for example, work as an Assistenzärztin, gain practical experience, earn a regular salary according to the collective agreement and prepare specifically for the Kenntnisprüfung.
You will receive the Approbation after passing the Kenntnisprüfung. Only from this point on are you allowed to work independently as a doctor in Germany.
