Hello Karl, as an EU citizen, you usually do not have to take a Kenntnisprüfung (KP) if your medical training was completed in another EU country and meets the requirements of the European Professional Recognition Directive. Normally, your qualification will then be automatically recognized without you having to take an additional exam. The Gutachtenverfahren usually affects doctors from third countries, i.e. outside the EU, or it is applied if the authorities have doubts about the Gleichwertigkeit of the training. This is less relevant for EU citizens. It is important that you submit your documents in full - preferably with a Konformitätsbescheinigung from your country of origin. If there are still differences or documents are missing, it may be the case in exceptional cases that the authorities still require a Kenntnisprüfung. My tip: Apply for recognition as normal, make sure that all evidence is complete, and contact the responsible Landesärztekammer directly if you are unsure. Best regards, Sophie from Get2Germany
