Get2Germany has launched Germany’s first all-in-one digital platform for the professional recognition of international healthcare professionals. “It’s unacceptable that patients in pain have to wait months for an appointment. Qualified international doctors can be a long-term solution to Germany’s growing doctor shortage,” says Dr. med. René Rheimann, CEO of Get2Germany.

Take Suryann, a general practitioner from Brazil: with Get2Germany, she was able to speed up her complex recognition process and now works in a medical center in Berlin thanks to job placement support. “We help international doctors prepare for mandatory exams and match them with the right jobs – in cities and rural areas. That way, we don’t just fight the doctor shortage, we also solve the distribution problem,” explains Rheimann.

The startup is backed by Charité, the European Union, the Berlin Senate Department, and the city’s leading universities: Freie Universität, Technische Universität, and Humboldt-Universität.

Forecasts show Germany’s healthcare system is heading toward a serious workforce crisis. According to a study by PwC, nearly 1.8 million healthcare positions could remain unfilled by 2035. At the same time, at least 20,000 qualified international doctors in Germany are still waiting for their professional recognition.

For Suryann, the impact was life-changing: “Get2Germany helped me get back to work much faster. Instead of relying on social benefits, I’m now able to make a meaningful contribution to society.”
