I sound way too technical with patients, any simple German phrases?

Patient-friendly German is a classic FSP skill: you must switch from “medical terms” to simple everyday words, while still being clear and calm. Framework that works for almost any diagnosis: • What it is (simple): “Das ist eine Entzündung / eine Verengung / eine Infektion …” • Why it happens / what caused it (short) • What we do now (tests + therapy, 1–2 sentences) • Warning signs: “Wenn … dann bitte sofort …” • Check understanding: “Haben Sie dazu Fragen? Können Sie es kurz wiederholen?” Example phrases (quick wins): • “Ich erkläre es ganz einfach.” • “Das ist nichts Ungewöhnliches, aber wir müssen es ernst nehmen.” • “Wir machen jetzt zuerst … damit wir sicher sind.” Practice out loud. Reading silently doesn’t build this skill.
